Liz Keefe is a weaver. She loves the complex geometric patterns of weaving as well as the occasional challenge of creating curved lines in a square world.
Recently, the colors and patterns of sari silk ribbons have been her inspiration. She weaves the ribbons over canvas to create vibrant abstract patterns, and adds a wood floating frame.
The ribbons are upcycled from remnants of saris made in India. The leftover silk pieces are pulled into strips about 2" wide, sewn end to end, and then twisted into skeins, ready for distribution. Unrolling a skein is always a surprise, with new color combinations and patterns.
